Mrs. Carol Lynn Maloof
Carol Lynn Maloof of Centreville, MD passed away on June 25, 2016 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. She was 67. Born on July 8, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Doris Hill Scheper Smith Dietrick of Greenwood, DE and the late Frederick Scheper, Sr. Carol graduated from high school and went to beautician school. After meeting the love of her life, together, she and her husband ran the family owned dental practice until she retired. Carol was a loving wife and an even more beautiful mother and friend. She enjoyed spending winters with her husband in Florida and summers with her children in Maryland. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, and jewelry making. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time laughing with her husband, children and grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Carol is survived by her loving husband Daniel Maloof of Centreville, MD; daughter Stacey Quigley (Yancey) of Centreville, MD; sons David Marshall of York, PA; Sean Marshall of Centreville, MD; 12 grandchildren Riley; Greyson; Taylor; Sean; Emma; David; Noah; Erin; Kennedy; Makenna; Madelyn; Payton; Step Children Robin Hill (Michael) of Charlotte, NC; Kelly Leavy (Daniel) of Charlotte, NC; Step Grandchildren Aaron; Elizabeth; Emily; Madison; Brooklyn; brother Mark Scheper of Greenwood, DE. She was predeceased by her brother Frederick Scheper, Jr. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD, where friends and family may visit on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 6-8 pm. Burial will be in Chesterfield Cemetery.

Evelyn Michelle Hager
Denton, MD: Evelyn Michelle Hager was born Friday, June 24, 2016 at Anne Arundel Medical Center to Kelly and Daniel Hager of Denton, MD. She weighed 7 lb. 7 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. Due to complications still unknown, she was rushed to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, Saturday evening. On Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:05 PM, in the arms of her parents, Evelyn was welcomed into Heaven. Evelyn Michelle is survived by her parents, Daniel and Kelly Hager and her four legged big brother, Fletcher, of Denton, maternal grandparents, Eric and Jalan VanLowe of St. Michaels, paternal grandparents, Phil and Donna Hager of Hyattsville, great grandparents, Jim and Jane Jenkins of Grasonville and Bonnie Hager of Silver Spring, maternal aunt, Carly VanLowe of Chicago, great aunts and uncles, and second and third cousins too numerous to mention. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Mark’s Chapel in Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to service, from 10 – 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, Kelly and Daniel ask that you please dress in your most colorful attire. Although her time on Earth was only four short days, the impact she had on the lives she touched is immeasurable. We take comfort in knowing she only knew of love and peace and that she is watching over us all until we are joined again in eternal life.

Lois Ann Sweetman of Golts, MD died at her home on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. She was 68. Lois Ann Sweetman was born September 12, 1947 in Wilmington, DE the daughter of the late William Vinyard and Charlotte “Montgomery” Vinyard. Lois attended Middletown High School through the 10th grade. She married Thomas B. Sweetman Sr. at the age of 17 and the two started their family. In 1979 she went to work for Johnson Control and formally retired in 2012. Mrs. Sweetman was very active with the Dover Elks Lodge #1903 for 22 years. She enjoyed collecting dolls, lighthouses and a variety of other things. She loved to spend time with her family and travel across the United States with her husband. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William Vinyard Sr. and her sister, Linda Yates. She is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Thomas B. Sweetman Sr. of Golts, MD, son, Thomas Sweetman Jr.,(Joyce) of Elkton, MD, daughter, Tammy Bramble (Jack) of Earlville, MD, daughter, Charlotte Heverin (Gary) of Golts, MD, son, William Sweetman (Lorri) of Middletown, DE, three sisters, “Ditti” Debusk (John) of Elkton,MD, Carol Dyling (Allan) of Texas, Cheryl Bradley (Mark) of Bear, DE, one brother, Michael Vinyard (Chris) of Florida, nine grandchildren, John, Heather, Tommy, Christina, Katie, William, Brittany, Amber, Brandi and six great grandchildren, Conor, Sean, Brandon, David,Carolynn and Kabella. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 1-3pm at Fellows Family Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD. Service will begin at 3pm. Mr. Herbert Brawley
MSGT Herbert Brawley, USAF retired Herbert “Herb” Brawley of Rock Hall, Maryland died on July 4, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 88. He was born on April 3, 1928 in Alton, Missouri to the late Arvil and Elsie Stotler Brawley. He worked on local farms in Alton until 1947 when he enlisted in the military. His service in the military allowed him to further his education, earning him a college degree. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 until 1967 earning the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the Air Force he took a position as an illustrator with the U.S. Department of Transportation from which he retired in 1983. His wife Kyoko “Elsie” Miura Brawley, whom he married January 4, 1952, predeceased him in 2007. He is survived by his children: Dr. Kimber Brawley DVM (Michele), Janet Tocknell (David), and Kevin Brawley (Donna), and his grandchildren: James E. Tocknell (Megan), Shauna I. Tocknell, Lori E. Tocknell, Katie Tocknell Pinkham (Brendon), and P. Emiko Brawley and two great grandchildren, Charles A. Tocknell II and Cordelia I. Pinkham. Graveside services with Air Force Honors will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at noon at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sgt. Preston Ashley American Legion Post #228, Rock Hall, MD.

Mildred Alice Dallas, of Chestertown, MD, died on July 9, 2016 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. She was born July 3, 1921, Ingleside, MD. Daughter of Howard and Oneida Burchard. Predeceased by a brother, Melvin Burchard, and one sister, Eva Knussman, and her husband, Allen Dallas. She is survived by her sister, Pat Hamvas, her son, David Stant, daughter-in-law, Brenda, daughter, Diane Larrimore. She is also survived by three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She went to Sudlersville High School and worked at Rob Roy Shirt Factory in Ridgely, MD for a number of years. She continued working as a seamstress for a number of years after leaving the shirt factory. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown, MD, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior (10-11am). Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Kent Co., Inc. P.O. Box 352 Chestertown, MD 21620.

Mr. James Herbert Kelley
James Herbert Kelley of Chestertown, MD passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home. He was 80. Born on October 20, 1935 in Chester, PA, he was the son of Edwin Levin and Hopeful Sloan MacHenry Kelley. He graduated from Media High School, class of 1953. Mr. Kelley was married to Lynn Davis for seven years. He later re-married to Arlene Claire Roseman and they became a blended family of five. Jim started his career in the oil and gas industry with Getty Oil in 1957 and retired in 1994 as a Lab Technician, after 37 years. He loved his work and co-workers. Mr. Kelley and his family resided in Newark, DE for 27 years. They purchased a house in Chestertown, MD, in 1988, where they moved to permanently in 1992. Jim enjoyed fishing, crabbing and traveling, but he was always the happiest when he was in his garden. He was a 40 year member of Hiram Lodge #25 A.F.A.M. in Newark, DE and gave instruction to many candidates. He also volunteered with Eastern Neck Island, building bird houses. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Arlene Kelley, he is survived by his children: Gail Prange (Tim) of Wilmington DE, Bernice “Bunny” Butera (Bill) of Titusville, FL, Michael Kelley (Dawn) of Cocoa Beach, FL and Kathleen Kelley (Dan) of Wilmington, DE; a brother, Norman Kelley of Linwood, PA; a sister, Betty Hodgson of Media, PA; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by seven siblings and also a son, Steven Kelley in 1983. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on August 11, 2016 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 130 Speer Rd., Chestertown, MD, where a reception will follow in the Dogwood Reception Center.
Mrs. Francesca F. Stencil
Francesca Fulton Stencil hailed from the Pacific Northwest, raised in Asotin and alum from the University of Washington. Fran met LT Walt Stencil, US Navy, shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, on a blind date that lasted another short 67 years with seven children (Jay Stencil, Jeffra Gasch, Katy Stafford, Craig Stencil, Lisa Wyman, Buttons Korach (deceased) and Rooney Stencil), their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Navy adventures took them from Bremerton to San Francisco to Long Beach to Panama to Coronado to Norfolk and to the Pentagon. In 1967 the family began a second chapter in a move to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, founding Kirkland Hall College, renown as a leading college of ecology. Fran was amazing, a cornerstone of the greatest generation, unflappable in the midst of chaos, strong and beautiful, always positive and supportive, completely selfless. The family gathered for a private burial in Oxford Cemetery, celebrated on her 96th birthday. She was more loved than our hearts could fill the sails, now with strictly Fair Winds and Following Seas. Mrs. Edith Lorraine Davis
Edith Lorraine Davis, of Centreville, MD passed away on July 23, 2016, at Easton Hospital. She was 81, born on May 12, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Vernon D. and Mary Blucher. After graduating from Kenwood High School in 1953, she married and resided in Baltimore where she became a homemaker and started her family. In 1964, Mrs. Davis moved to Kent Island on the Eastern Shore where she resided with her family of six children and later divorced. In 1977, Mrs. Davis began working for H&R Block as a tax preparer, later purchasing two franchises. In 1978, she married Frank W. Davis of Centreville, MD where they resided together. She was a member of the Galilee Lutheran Church, Bay Country Moose Lodge, and the Kent Island Elks Club. Mrs. Davis enjoyed country music, traveling, and being with her family. She is survived by her six children: Deborah Brashears of Arnold, Karen Nash Jones of Centreville, Donald Nash, Jr. of Stevensville, Kenneth Nash, Sr. of Centreville, Sandra Morris of Centreville, and Joy Leishear of Stevensville; two step-daughters, Angel Clark of Preston, and Diana Jones of Federalsburg; two sisters, Ruth Porter of Bel Air, and Evelyn Heinze of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Dana Stone, Charles “Cubby” Jones Jr., Kenneth Nash Jr., Courtney Nash, C. Matthew Morris, Steven Morris, Sr., Stephanie Brashears, and Samantha Morris; six great grandchildren, Mason Saia, Hannah Morris, Conner Morris, Steven Morris Jr., Ryder Nash, and Jacob Morris. Her husband, Frank W. Davis; sisters Helen Tanner, Dorothy Conner, and Leona Stevens; brothers Vernon Blucher, Lawrence Blucher, Earl Blucher; and one grandson, Charles Brashears II, predeceased her. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 12:00 p.m., at Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville, MD, where friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the Chesterfield Cemetery. Mrs. Shannon Renee Stagg
Shannon Renee (Farnham) Stagg, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 19th, in Chestertown, Maryland. Born April 5, 1969 in Whittier, California she was the second child of Bradley and Carol (Peglow) Farnham. She was an outgoing child and made friends easily. During her childhood she participated in gymnastics, dancing, and roller skating which included some regional competition events. Loving to roller skate was a passion throughout her life. Shannon graduated from Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe Springs, CA and then went to tech school to become a para-legal assistant, working for several different law firms. She also worked for Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA in the insurance approval department. Through friends and a cousin she met Wiley Clifford Stagg, better known as Cliff. They fell in love and were married in Jamaica on February 11, 1999. Cliff and Shannon made the decision in 2003 to move from California to Maryland for Cliff to continue in his career of sail making. Shannon then trained and became a property appraiser in the Chestertown area. Their union was blessed with two wonderful boys, Wiley Ethan (9) and Braden Hunter (8). Shannon will be remembered for her outgoing spirit and her compassionate heart. She was involved with organizations relating to special needs children. Her love of animals was great as she and Cliff had Portuguese Water Dogs and they were active in local clubs and national competitions. Shannon is survived by her husband, Cliff; sons, Wiley and Braden; parents, Brad and Carol Farnham; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kimberly Farnham; nieces, Faith and Emma Farnham; and other relatives; Rick Hardy and other close and dear friends including members of the National Portuguese Water Dog Association; and business associates. Funeral service will be held at Fellows Helfenbein and Newman Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD 21620 on Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 am with visitation preceding at 10:00 am.
